One of my favorite ways to use my oils is in skincare! I came up with this serum about a month ago and I can honestly say I notice a difference, especially if I don’t use it for a couple days. I use this only at night because I like to use my normal moisturizer in the morning and your skin does all it’s hard work repairing itself at night while you’re sleeping so that’s when I put on the good stuff. The next morning when I wake up, my skin always feels incredibly soft and smooth.
The best part about this serum is it’s completely customizable! I specifically chose to use Lavender and Frankincense for myself because of my personal skin needs and preferences but you can use whatever oils fit your skin needs. If you have acne you can use tea tree instead of frankincense or if you have very dry and mature skin, then you can use rose instead of lavender for a killer hydrating anti-aging combo! I personally have naturally oily skin but I don’t have a big issue with breakouts unless they are hormone related, in which case I’ll change up my routine a bit for a few days and add in some tea tree.
There are several different carrier oils you can use for your serum like coconut, grapeseed, almond, olive etc. It all depends on what works best with your skin. I use Tamanu oil because it’s not too heavy and doesn’t clog my pores. It also has amazing anti-acne, anti-aging and antibacterial benefits and it is seriously one of my favorite carrier oils for my face! (The one I am using now is made by Shea Terra Organics that I am trying to use up but I have used this one below as well and and they are both amazing)
Why Lavender And Frankincense?
Frankincense oil is known throughout history as an oil with tons of amazing properties. It is known to improve skin tone and encourage the healing process. It is also extremely beneficial when used to combat the aging process by helping to regenerate skin cells. I am only in my mid-twenties but I firmly believe in prevention and the earlier you start caring for your skin, the better it will look years from now!
Lavender is an awesome oil known for it’s healing benefits and it also happens to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a great oil for those with any kind of inflammation like redness or acne. I sometimes have to combat both of those depending on my situation so I keep lavender in my skincare routine daily. How To Use It
I don’t mix the serum ahead of time, just in case I want to switch up my oils for a specific need that day, but it’s super easy to mix it up right before you use it. Simply pump about a dime size amount of your carrier\base oil and add in a single drop of your chosen essential oils, in my case, lavender and frankincense. Massage it into your skin gently using upward motions and sleep your way to gorgeous, soft skin!
